Softball Captures 2nd in Region
Miami, Okla. (Wednesday, May 13, 2009) --
The Golden Norse Baseball Team finished the season with a second-place regional ranking. They took on Seminole on May 10 at Bartlesville.

“The regional tournament was phenomenal,” said Roger Ward, coach. “We played better than any team there. We had a few bad breaks against Seminole in the final round that cost us the championship, but I am very proud of my guys.

Golden Norseman Josh Botts, a resident of Commerce, was named First Team All-Region. He joined Argnis Paz of Ontario, Canada; Sean Mattson of Ontario; and Louis Argumedes of Quebec, Canada on the regional All-Tournament Team.

In addition, Dan Reid received the Carl Rigney Award at the 88th Commencement Ceremony on May 7. This annual award is presented to a graduating Golden Norseman who has shown exceptional character, scholastic achievement and athletic endeavor. Reid is a resident of New Brunswick, Canada who earned a degree in general studies. He graduated with a 3.41 GPA.
